“The Sosta Palmizi Company has been the most significant among the foremost contemporary dance formations in Italy (1985), and the present Association, still guided by two choreographers from the initial group, is today an important point of reference in art and teaching for new generations of dancers and choreographers.
With their tireless spirit of research and unmistakable personal style gained through experience, for the last twenty years Giordano and Rossi have given us creations widely recognised not in our country alone and, with a sense of responsibility and personal sacrifice, they have devoted their time to the training, support and promotion of young artists.
Their twenty years of work has consistently and specifically contributed, and still contributes, to the constitution and the solidity of the backbone of Italian dance in our time.”

In 1990 the SOSTA PALMIZI Company broke up and one part of its artistic heritage became the Associazione Sosta Palmizi, with Raffaella Giordano and Giorgio Rossi as artistic directors. They were first based in Turin, then from 1995 on in Cortona, Tuscany.

« Form and substance are miraculously con-fused together, the body is the living site of this encounter. The body is a crossroads of forces, a miracle of connections, the point of an iceberg, the child of spirit and matter. It reveals the strong powers that involve the essence of our being here and then no longer being here. The body helps to remember. Not neglecting this reality means a lot to me, ensuring that relations among the parts play differently in each work. The dance is a poetic, concrete reality with the power to invoke multiple dimensions in the alchemic space-time of the present. It conveys values imbued with humanity; that’s why it is powerful and a philosophical, social and political voice. It is a possible revolution. . »
